Surreal Arts and Dreams
Surrealism was an artistic movement that brought together artists, thinkers and researchers in hunt of sense of expression of the unconscious.
They were searching for the definition of new aesthetic, new humankind and a new social order. Surrealists had their forerunners in
Italian Metaphysical Painters (Giorgio de Chirico) in early 1910's and flourished in 20's.
As the artistic movement, Surrealism came into being after the French poet Andre Breton 1924 published the first Manifeste du surrealisme.
In this book Breton suggested that rational thought was repressive to the powers of creativity and imagination and thus inimical to artistic
expression. An admirer of Sigmund Freud and his concept of the subconscious, Breton felt that contact with this hidden part of the mind
could produce poetic truth.
The most known artists, painters who were creating in this style were: Andre Breton, Max Ernst, Frida Kahlo, Paul Eluard, Marc Chagall,
Joan Miro, Meret Oppenheim,

Website live, Goodbyes

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 5, 2011, 6:40 AM
It's been a fun ride, folks! But I won't be on DeviantArt anymore. I think I've said that once or twice before, but I need to focus on my professional work and family now. My wife and I are expecting our first child in a few months. I'm graduated from SCAD with my MFA, and looking for a teaching job somewhere. It could be a year or two before I land something permanent.

Thank you to the community of friends and acquaintances that has supported me for these years. I appreciate your comments and input. I also appreciate the debates and discussions I've had with people here, whether friendly or not-so. They have kept me thoughtfully engaged and helped me to grow in my faith.

Finally, if you wish to still follow my work, my personal website is now up and live. (I'm still ironing out some kinks—the "Prints" page is not yet functional. You should be able to order prints from me directly within the next month.) But I plan to keep posting new work and spiritual journals on my blogspot, as well. I hope to hear from you there!

If anyone needs to contact me, my updated contact info is on my website. Thanks again. May the Lord our God bless you in all the work of your hands.

In Christ,
Jonathan Mayer

Look, your work may be good (I'm not sure I haven't looked), but trying to shame women is disgusting. I hope that you take that picture down that is on the front page of the site.

Nice art! I loved your one about abortion. I know people are getting on you for how you made the mother seem (devoid of life, etc), but honestly, some women are like that, some women don't care, don't see the baby as actual life, they just see it as an inconvenience.

That's inhuman, and you portrayed that in your art, very, very well. As a woman myself, I enjoyed the piece, enjoyed the concept, and i'm glad you had the guts to do it! Also, your gallery is amazing, I'm seriously about to follow you!

Fantastic gallery.  Very thought-provoking and tasteful - a rarity these days, when people cut corners by overusing the shock value.  It's a shame you're leaving us.  Hope to see you here again.  Congrats on the baby and all the best to your family - and every success at work!

As much as your work displays incredible talent, if you ever return to DeviantART and see this mess of opinions your piece has caused, please try to consider that perhaps by creating that piece you were shaming women and implying that we should not have our right to the human freedoms of choice.

You made the women in the picture look alien and devoid of life and that is the opposite of all women.

You should be ashamed for your attempt to guilt women. Disgusting. If you were a true believer you would know we are meant to help those around us, it is not our place to judge others. Grow up.
